Hurricane Relief Efforts
Dear Groce Church Family and Community,
While destruction to people’s lives, livelihood, property, and nature has been heart wrenching, the outpouring of support for one another, from near and far, has been beyond overwhelming.
Groce did not have a disaster response plan, but we sure do now!! What started as simply not letting the food for our weekly Welcome Table meal go to waste grew into feeding 300 to 500+ people a day. In addition, a supply room in Asbury Hall has received and distributed literally tons of essential living supplies to our community. Verizon has operated a wifi and charging station in our parking lot which has been invaluable for both Groce supporting its disaster response and the community’s use.
This would not be happening at Groce without God’s help through the hands of all the volunteers, the majority of which are not members at Groce given how much manpower is needed. The two most wonderful things during this are meeting the people we are helping and making so many new friends doing the helping. Sometimes they are the same person. It is such a team effort.
God is good!!
